Additional Event Information
This approx 7.5 mile route takes you on a journey along paths once trod by many hooves. It incorporates packhorse routes, including a delightful bridge over a weir, and a section of the Portway. Country lanes passing through the quaint village of Youlgrave link to bridleways which provide the opportunity for some grassland cantering. There is plenty of hillwork, as the route drops down to make two crossings of the River Lathkill, the second by way of a ford, and climbs up into another perfect Peak District village, Over Haddon.

Worth Noting:
Some roadwork is necessary, mainly on designated quiet lanes, but village sections may be busier.
There is one tricky ascent on rocky going, and a low branch, which may be difficult for riders of taller horses.
The packhorse bridge is typical, having low sides which do not enclose the horses into the bridge.
There is a water crossing with no dry alternative.
Livestock may be present both on and alongside the route.
Sections of the route may be stony.
