Additional Event Information

New for this year, a great ride through farmland sound of Boroughbridge on either side of the River Swale - and across it via an historic cast iron bridge! The ride is mainly on bridleways and quiet lanes but there are a couple of sections on busier roads, so your horse must be good in traffic. Your horse must also be good at following you across the bridge, which has a good solid wooden base and high sides but is quite a wide span across the river - you can see the water flowing underneath it. You will have to get off and lead it across, then re-mount the other side (there's a steep sloping bank we can scramble on from). That's why the ride is a Grade 3, although the terrain is flat and not difficult, and it isn't very long. We also ride through the pretty village of Brafferton and pass the site of the Battle of Myton in 1319. The ride is led by Janet Cochrane and starts at 12.30, following on from a 4-mile Walk & Trot ride starting in the same place earlier in the day. Max. 6 riders. Entry fee 33 pounds.
