Additional Event Information

Approx 9 miles. Setting out on the level along the Sett Valley Trail, before taking to country lanes and byways. The route undulates on its way to pass through the pretty hamlet of Rowarth. A reasonable climb brings us up to join the Pennine Bridleway, and reaching the Lime fields there is a decent canter stretch, if all riders are happy to do so. Views from the top are stunning in all directions, including across to Kinder Scout. The route then descends, at times steeply, from Lantern Pike, before rejoining the Sett Valley Trail. View the route demo video here: https://youtu.be/ms2n_vHwXNQ Worth noting: Going is at times rocky, uneven and stepped, with some slippery and mobile sections. This is true both going up and down but most particularly on the steep descent from Lantern Pike. The Sett Valley Trail is multi-user so cyclists and walkers with dogs are likely to be encountered. It is possible some HGV traffic may be encountered for a short section of road. There may alpacas in a field adjacent to the Trail close to the start/end point. There may be pigs and/or donkeys adjacent to the route. There is a small ford water splash on one track. Some livestock (sheep/cattle) may be present both on and alongside the route. Places are 45/horse and rider combination, group sizes are limited to 6+guide. All riders must have adequate Public Liability Insurance to cover themselves and their horses. Under 18s are welcome but on a first visit must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider.
